Kevin’s musical career began in Belfast, Ireland. During the sixties, he played in the same band as Van Morrison called The Great Eight. In 1974 he did a world cruise on the P & O Cruise Line with his band and continued to tour extensively in Europe and Ireland. Kevin came to the states, first to the San Francisco Bay Area, in the late seventies. He formed his own band called Claddagh and played the San Francisco club scene for years, teaming up with Van Morrison again, performing with him and opening his shows throughout the eighties, most notably at San Francisco’s Great American Music Hall. At the Paul Mason Winery in California, he appeared with Van Morrison and the legendary Irish band, The Chieftains. Shana Morrison teamed up with Kevin and some members of the Claddagh Band to form her own band, Caledonia, and played throughout the bay area for a number of years. They performed at Yoshi's in Oakland for the 80th birthday Jam of the renowned blues artist, Brownie McGhee. Shana and Kevin still perform together on special occasions.
Kevin’s solo performance is wide ranging, from Traditional Irish Folk and contemporary ballads to Americana Folk and Blues. One of the top features of his repertoire is Wavelength, a Van Morrison Tribute Band.
Song and storytelling is something that comes very natural to the Irish and Kevin has a deep pool of songs, stories and yarns he loves to share with the audience.
